ok, so i went to the MOMA for the show two times.
I actually went 4 the first time two fridays ago, then today(sunday)
first, coz i went but i didnt get any of the names of the artists were shown
in the exhibiton. Also, because i went really late that i didnt finished the whole
museum before they close.
On top of that, they having a new
photography soloshow at the top floor just opened (February 25–May 14)
so i went again.
lets talk about the Live/ work exhibition
first, i really love the idea of showing the connection between the performing art
and the drawing that has to do with it.
like it says on the intro on the website, "the act of drawing has historically been linked with performance, and in some cases can be considered a performative action itself."
I found it really interesting because of the fact that
the act( the performance ) is not there anymore, but because of that, you can imagine the whole "act"in your mind, in a way, the performance become more personal/ intiment to the viewer, and creat more room for imagination.
one of the works that i really like, is the one done by Vito Acconci.
Its called Notes on Movement II (body as place)
its a big sheet of graphic paper with prints of photo and writing about his three individual
performances.
They are Seed Bed, Rubbing Piece, Sinnding Board.
of all the three acts, the seed bed is the one that really interest me.
Seed bed is about the performance that he did in a museum, he builded a ramp that covered
half of the room that he performed, and he trapped himself under the ramp 5 days during a 2 weeks show.
and under the ramp all day, moving from one point to another to "produce seed" to the max
of he can produce.
On the note, he said that the meaning of the performance is "private sexual activity". He said that he can images of the visitors that went in the room(walking over the ramp) , that he can "talk to himself about them" and his fantasies can excite him. And when the seed "planted " on the floor, then it is a joint result of his presents and the visitors.
Which, i found it really sick, twisted in a way but
